Launching the Ministerial Taskforce Website - 19 January 2004

Chair of Tweed Heads Ministerial Taskforce and member for Tweed Mr Neville Newell yesterday launched the website for the Ministerial Taskforce and the Masterplan project at Tweed Mall before a gathering of stakeholders and members of the Taskforce.

To facilitate consultation and meet the Taskforce commitment to keeping the Tweed community informed, it is necessary for the Taskforce and the Masterplan project to have a well developed website as a primary means of communicating and publishing on line information.

The website key aims are to inform Tweed residents and other interested parties of the process and development milestones for the Masterplan. It will also help the Taskforce and the team of consultants working on the project to get public feedback, facilitate public consultation and ensure public availability of information through out the Master planning process for Tweed Heads Town Centre.

The Taskforce values public comments and the website will provide an additional opportunity for stakeholders to be able to submit their comments during the Masterplan development and the formal exhibition period.

The website will be the Taskforce primary means of publishing information. It will also provide a mechanism for collecting information. Specifically, the website will provide progressively in the next 6 months the different components of the Masterplan to inform the public and provide a mechanism for public consultation. It will be a very useful and convenient medium for many residents who have internet access, to gain information & provide feedback to the Taskforce.

Currently the website provides access to the entire Economic Development Strategy document which can be down loaded at no cost including background information, data, research and background on Tweed Heads CBD.

The Ministerial Taskforce will continue to work closely with the community to prepare the Town Centre Masterplan through public forums and workshops during the next 6 months to enable residents and the business community to discuss proposals and provide feedback for the Masterplan. The website is designed to publish periodical news Letter and to provide project update to the key stakeholders and the public.

The Taskforce is keen to get public feedback on the recommendations for the Tweed Heads Town Centre revitalization and Masterplan.

The completed Masterplan document will be available on line for public information and comments by the end of April 2004.

The Taskforce invites the stakeholders, the residents and the public to view the website periodically to keep up to date with the progress of the project and participate in creating the vision for Tweed Heads future.

The Ministerial Taskforce wishes to thank the iPlan's Planning System Online Web project team at DIPNR, in particular the project manager Jyoti Di-Cola, for their professional and creative approach to the planning and design of the Taskforce Website.
